A Gluten-Free Pasta with a Wheat-Like Texture
Among gluten-free pasta options, RUMMO is known for its texture that is surprisingly close to traditional wheat pasta. It is made without any wheat flour, using ingredients such as corn, brown rice, rice, and potatoes.

RUMMO S.p.A. is a long-established Italian pasta manufacturer founded in 1846. Production of SPAGHETTI Nº 3 (Gluten-Free Spaghetti No. 3) started in 2015.
The main reason I have continued buying this pasta for years is its texture. Compared with many gluten-free pastas, it does not break apart easily and keeps a nice firmness after cooking. It has a satisfying bite that feels much closer to regular wheat pasta.
The pasta has a diameter of 1.85 mm, which makes it a versatile size that works well with many different sauces, including classic tomato sauce, carbonara, Japanese-style pasta sauces, and oil-based sauces. The slightly rough surface of the pasta helps the sauce cling well, so even I, who am not the best cook, rarely have problems getting a good result.
The package recommends a cooking time of 11 minutes, but I personally prefer a slightly firmer texture. I usually cook it for 10 minutes and then finish it by mixing it with the sauce for about 30 seconds.
Even as a gluten-free pasta, RUMMO offers a satisfying chew and an enjoyable al dente texture. If you are looking for gluten-free pasta that feels closer to traditional wheat pasta, this one is worth trying.
Rummo S.p.A. does not sell directly in Japan, so this review includes a link to Namisato Co., Ltd., the official importer. The Namisato online shop also offers many gluten-free products made by Namisato, a company well known in Japan for its rice flour products.Another reason my family continues to buy this pasta is that, despite being gluten-free, it is reasonably priced and easy to include in our regular meals.
**Please note: If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please check with the restaurant in advance, including the possibility of cross-contamination.
RUMMO gluten-free pasta is also available in a penne shape.
