静岡県・駿河湾・久能海岸通り|ストロベリーロード

Located in a prime location along Kuno Kaigan Dori (commonly known as Strawberry Road) facing Suruga Bay in Shizuoka Prefecture, "umi table" is a stylish cafe and restaurant.

The owner, who previously ran a wheat-based bakery, reportedly opened this restaurant after experiencing changes in their own health. In addition to the restaurant menu, they also offer a variety of delicious gluten-free sweets.

The menu features dishes that bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients, including lunch plates made with plenty of fresh vegetables, Hamburg steaks, doria, and sandwiches. They also have an extensive selection of drinks, parfaits, and cakes.

During this visit, I had the "Tender Chicken Soy Milk Curry" and the "Sake-Kasu (Sake Lees) Seafood Doria." The vegetables in the accompanying bagna cauda were plentiful and truly delicious, with a natural sweetness.

The meals are served with aged brown rice, which has a pleasantly chewy texture. It reminded me a little of Japanese sekihan (red bean rice), and I think it's easy to enjoy even if you're new to brown rice or don't usually eat it.

Being a light eater, I quickly became full just from the lunch menu, as I usually do, and could not manage to have dessert. Instead, I decided to take some sweets home. Next time, I definitely want to enjoy dessert at the restaurant.

While this restaurant would be a lovely place to dine with friends, the interior is as quiet and sophisticated as an art museum, allowing you to enjoy your meal in a calm, relaxed atmosphere. Therefore, it is also highly recommended for solo female travelers. If you are visiting Shizuoka, please drop by and enjoy a lunch made with carefully selected, body-friendly ingredients.

The same property is also home to "umi pupan," a gluten-free bakery that makes baked sweets with Japanese rice flour and pesticide-free brown rice.
