A Café in Yamagata with a Cute Character
KŌDRIAN is a café located on the grounds of AEON TOWN Nanyo in Nanyo City, Yamagata. It serves gluten-free baumkuchen made with 100% rice flour from Yamagata Prefecture’s Tsuyahime rice.
Inside the café, you can find colorful and cute gluten-free baumkuchen. You can also enjoy the baumkuchen you purchase at the café.
The café has a natural interior with around 15 seats, including table seats, counter seats, and a large table. The tables have slightly different thicknesses, which gives the café a cute and cozy feel. I’m not sure if they are made from local wood, but the design is lovely.
At the entrance, you’ll find this stylish machine used to bake baumkuchen.
Around noon, visitors can also watch the baumkuchen being baked. The baumkuchen that will be sold later are hung up while still in their freshly baked shape.
If you can watch the baumkuchen being made, I think young children would enjoy it. I was already very excited just seeing the machine!
You can enjoy the baumkuchen you purchase at the café, but there is also a café menu with different ways to enjoy it, including a plate with several types of baumkuchen topped with cream and sauces.
We didn’t know about it this time, so we didn’t order it. If you visit the café, you might like to try the baumkuchen plate.
