TAINAI's Rice Bread is made with non-glutinous rice grown in Niigata Prefecture and contains no wheat, eggs, or dairy ingredients. It offers the gentle sweetness unique to rice flour and a soft, chewy texture that makes it hard to believe it's gluten-free.
The official website also states that none of the 28 specified allergenic ingredients are brought into the manufacturing facility. In addition, the bread is made with rice bran oil, making it a reassuring option for those who cannot consume dairy products.
For the best texture, lightly warm the bread in the microwave before toasting. This creates a crispy exterior while keeping the inside soft and chewy. Because it slices easily, it is also well suited for making sandwiches.
Rice-flour bread can become firm if overheated and may develop a crumbly texture when eaten cold. In our household, we usually warm it in the microwave for about 30 seconds before lightly toasting it in a frying pan.
Because rice-flour bread is sensitive to moisture and can break apart when it absorbs too much liquid, it's best to assemble sandwiches just before eating. The loaf can also be sliced into pieces about 1.5 cm thick and stored in the freezer in a zip-top bag for later use.
