An Charme Café, located just a 2-minute walk from Fuchu Station in Fuchu, Tokyo, is not a dedicated gluten-free café, but it offers hearty pancakes made with rice flour.
The only gluten-free item made with rice flour is the pancakes. The café also serves a wide range of other dishes, including wheat-based pancakes, hamburgers, risotto, and curry.
The pancakes are thick and served as a generous portion of three, accompanied by plenty of fruit and whipped cream on a large plate.
They are less light and fluffy and have a denser, more filling texture. The portion is quite large, but the whipped cream is only lightly sweetened, so it does not feel overly rich. The pancakes can be served with a choice of sauces, including maple, strawberry, and kiwi.
