Tokyo Komeko Bagel is located about a 5-minute walk from Fuchu Station in Tokyo. The shop is inside a real estate office, which makes it a little unusual.
I actually found the shop once before, but I wasn't sure if I was in the right place. I kept wondering, “What if this isn't it?” and, after hesitating for quite a while, I ended up going home without buying anything.

But I really, really wanted to try their rice flour bagels, so I went back another day with a family member and finally bought the bagels I had been looking forward to.

The rice flour bagels have a wonderfully chewy and springy texture. In my case, I also feel like they are easier on my stomach, perhaps because they are made with rice flour. They completely changed the way I had thought about bagels.

I had always assumed that bagels would feel heavy, which was one reason I had never bought them before.

But after discovering Tokyo Komeko Bagel, I became a big fan of bagels.

Don't you think bagels are one of the types of bread that work especially well with the chewy texture of rice flour?
Since then, I've been having bagels for breakfast much more often.

All of the bagels I've tried have been delicious, but my favorites are the Edamame & Cheese and Pepper Cheese bagels. They have a subtle salty flavor and work well for both breakfast and lunch. They are also delicious when sliced and filled with ham or cheese.

By the way, Tokyo Komeko Bagel is apparently moving to a new location in Fuchu City in mid-October.

I wonder what the new shop will be like. I'm already looking forward to visiting it.
