Soba to Ringoto is a restaurant about a 5-minute walk from JR Mitaka Station, serving galettes made with 100% Japanese buckwheat flour and apple cider. The restaurant is also known for its focus on gluten-free dining.

Although French cuisine can sometimes feel a little formal, this restaurant has a relaxed and casual atmosphere where it is easy to drop in even when dining alone.

For this visit, the lunch set included the Salmon & Herb Cream Cheese Galette and the Andansu-Taco Galette, which is seasoned with Okinawan andansu, a sweet miso made with pork and miso.

The salmon galette has an appealing presentation, with a crisp, crunchy surface and plenty of vegetables. It comes with enough vegetables that a separate salad may not be necessary. The combination of salmon and galette works particularly well.

The Taco Galette, newly introduced in August, is hearty, spicy, and quite filling. The savory, casual flavors of tacos work surprisingly well with the galette. A squeeze of shikuwasa citrus adds another layer of flavor.

The buckwheat pudding for dessert is also worth trying, with a fragrant roasted flavor and a pleasant texture from the small buckwheat grains.
It makes a nice choice for dessert after the meal.
