Located about an 8-minute walk from JR Higashi-Kariya Station in Anjo, Aichi, Hachihare is a cozy bar serving gluten-free Italian, Thai, and other international dishes. Calling it simply a "bar," though, doesn't quite capture its unique atmosphere.
We found this restaurant during a trip to the Nagoya area. We suddenly felt like having dinner at a bar, searched for a gluten-free restaurant nearby, and made a reservation. That's usually how we travel—we rarely make detailed plans and often decide where to eat on the spur of the moment.
It's easy to see why the restaurant is especially popular with women. Every dish is beautifully presented, and everything we tried was delicious.
The restaurant itself is just as charming. Even the sign outside is cute, and the staff are warm and stylish. It's a small space filled with thoughtful details that make you feel comfortable the moment you walk in.
The restaurant was started by someone with a wheat allergy, and none of the dishes on the menu are made with wheat flour. From pasta, grilled dishes, salads, soups, and desserts to small plates, everything is colorful, carefully presented, and made with great attention to detail.
Italian food is often difficult to enjoy when you're avoiding gluten, so I usually end up giving up on many dishes. At Hachihare, I finally got to enjoy the kind of meals I had often wished I could eat gluten-free.
Unfortunately, we didn't have room for dessert this time. I'd love to come back in winter to try their tiramisu.
Even if gluten-free food isn't your priority, Hachihare is the kind of place you'll want to visit again.
If you're traveling around Nagoya or Anjo, it's well worth stopping by.
