About an 8-minute walk from Higashi-Hannō Station, Gluten Free JOY+a is a takeout shop specializing in gluten-free foods made with rice flour.
The shop is open only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In addition to freshly baked rice flour pizzas and bread sets, it also offers sweets such as cheesecake and cookies.
The bread set includes four varieties: corn bread, pizza bread, onigiri-shaped bread, and cheese bread. Each one has a great texture that is hard to believe is made with rice flour, and the set is both filling and satisfying.
Of everything I bought, my favorite was the rice flour cheesecake. It was so good that I finished it in no time and wished I had bought another one.
On a nice day, it's also worth taking your pizza or bread to the nearby Moominvalley Park and enjoying it outdoors. The natural surroundings make for a pleasant place to enjoy your meal.
